Veneers are tooth-coloured porcelain laminates which are custom fitted to the existing tooth structure. In most cases the front of the tooth is trimmed to ensure the finished veneers are not too prominent. The porcelain veneer is bonded strongly to the surface of the tooth.
Veneers can be used to treat the following conditions:
Diastemas (spaces between the teeth)
Broken or chipped teeth
Crooked or poorly shaped teeth where orthodontics are not indicated
Stained or leaking fillings
Before After
Compared with traditional crowns, veneers require only a small amount of tooth removal and are less expensive. Veneers can last for years, depending on how well you take care of them. Because veneers are stronger than simple bonding, they are also more resistant to stains and chipping. However, it is important to maintain regular oral hygiene, to avoid bad habits such as biting nails and to visit us regularly for routine cleaning and examinations. These precautions will help ensure that your veneers will last a long time and keep looking as good as new.
